Two Months of Growth: My Summer Internship Journey at atWare Vietnam

My name is Huyen, a third-year Software Engineering student at the University of Science, VNU-HCM as well as an intern of the summer internship 2025 program.
Time has passed quickly - it's hard to believe it's already been two months since I began my internship. What started as a new chapter full of curiosity and nervous energy has become one of the most valuable learning experiences in my journey so far. Now, I’m excited to take a moment to reflect. This blog is a reflection on the lessons I’ve learned, the challenges I’ve faced, and the personal growth I’ve experienced along the way.
Diving into new technologies
The technology used in the project I was assigned to was quite new to me - from the architecture and infrastructure to the programming languages and development workflow. I was introduced to concepts and tools like Clean Architecture, AWS, GraphQL, Terraform, trunk-based development, and more.
Fortunately, my mentor understood the learning curve and gave me the first week to read relevant documentation and get familiar with the system. At first, it wasn’t easy. Just reading the documentation, I often felt lost and unsure of how things fit together. This made me feel stuck at times or even doubt my abilities. But thanks to the support of my mentor and the encouragement from the team, I gradually became more confident and kept pushing forward.
After the first week, I started contributing to the actual project. I gained access to the repositories, observed how my team members worked, and began handling some tasks. This hands-on experience helped me connect the dots and understand how these technologies are applied in practice, which made me feel more comfortable.
Two months isn’t a long time to master every tool or technology, but it gave me a solid foundation. More importantly, it helped me understand how modern technologies are used in real-world projects and prepared me to explore them more deeply in the future.
Gaining valuable insights and experiences
Joining atWare, I had the opportunity to experience how the Agile methodology and Scrum framework are effectively applied in a real-world software development process. Participating in daily stand-ups, sprint planning sessions, and regular retrospectives gave me a deeper understanding of how development teams stay aligned, adapt to change, and continuously deliver value.
One of the most valuable insights I gained was in problem-solving. I learned that solving a problem isn’t just about making something work - it’s about weighing the pros and cons, evaluating the potential impact, and making thoughtful decisions that support long-term usability and maintainability.
I also learned that we should always prioritize the customer’s benefit rather than simply focus on implementing a working solution. A good solution not only meets technical requirements but also considers user experience, scalability, and business value.
Having good mentor, teammates and colleagues
One of the things I’m most grateful for during this internship is the people I had the chance to work with. Everyone at the company has been incredibly dedicated, supportive, and approachable. I was not only impressed by their technical expertise and experience, but also by their professionalism, humility, and willingness to help others. Thanks to this positive environment, I felt encouraged to make decisions without fear of criticism, and to ask questions whenever I faced uncertainties. It truly made learning and growing much easier and more enjoyable.
Beyond work, the company also made us feel truly part of the team, not just interns. They held welcome and farewell parties for us, invited us to join company events, and even played games together. These experiences helped us build strong bonds and made my internship even more memorable.
Prioritizing learning over pressure
One thing that made atWare different in my eyes is that interns are encouraged to focus on gaining as much knowledge and experience as possible, rather than being pressured to contribute heavily to the project or complete tasks quickly. This mindset relieved a lot of pressure and allowed me to spend more time researching, asking questions, and truly understanding the problem before jumping into a solution
Conclusion
Being an intern at atWare Vietnam made this summer truly unforgettable. I had the opportunity to work on real-world projects, dive into new technologies, and experience professional software development in an inspiring and inclusive environment.
Thank you to everyone at atWare for your dedication, support, and for treating me not just as an intern, but as a valued member of the team. I’ve grown a lot in these two months, and I’m excited to take what I’ve learned with me into the next chapter of my journey.
Once again, thank you so much, atWare Vietnam!
