My Two-Month Internship Journey at atWare Vietnam

My name is Anh Thu, a third-year student at the Faculty of Information Technology in the University of Science, VNU-HCM. It has been two months since I started my internship at atWare Vietnam, and what an unforgettable journey it has been! This opportunity has not only given me a chance to apply what I've learned in school to real-world projects but has also led me to meet wonderful people and grow both personally and professionally.

My journey with atWare Vietnam began unexpectedly. While scrolling through LinkedIn one day, I came across an internship post that caught my eye. Impressed by the program, I immediately applied. Little did I know that this decision would lead to such a transformative experience.

From the very beginning, I was immersed in a world of new knowledge and experiences. The first week was dedicated to understanding the company culture, core values, and essential technology knowledge. I was introduced to Agile and Scrum Methodology, which play crucial roles in project management. The learning curve was steep as I acquainted myself with Clean Architecture and GraphQL, concepts that were entirely new to me coming from an MVC Pattern and RestAPI background.

My first task was challenging, but it taught me a valuable lesson about focusing on the core requirements of a task rather than overextending the scope. This experience helped me understand the importance of clear communication and precise execution in a professional setting.

The internship wasn't without its challenges. The primary language used in project meetings and documentation was Japanese, which initially posed a significant barrier. However, with the help of supportive team members who assisted with translations, I gradually became more comfortable. Balancing my internship with my ongoing summer semester at university was another hurdle, requiring careful time management and dedication to maintain both my work and academic commitments.

I am incredibly grateful for the mentorship I received during my internship. Each mentor brought unique strengths to the table, providing me with diverse learning opportunities. Their passion for their work and the positive energy they brought to the office every day was truly inspiring. The supportive environment they created was instrumental in helping me navigate the challenges and grow both professionally and personally.

Throughout the internship, I experienced moments of self-doubt and anxiety. I often questioned if I was good enough or truly suitable for the position. However, I've come to understand that these emotions are a natural part of the learning process, especially in a new and challenging environment.

As I reflect on these two months, I realize that this internship has been more than just a professional experience – it has been a journey of self-discovery and growth. While I may not have always felt confident in my abilities, I've learned that progress is not always linear, and every challenge is an opportunity to learn and improve.

To future interns, I would say: embrace the challenges, don't be afraid to ask questions, and remember that everyone starts somewhere. Your attitude and willingness to learn are just as important as your technical skills.
