As a new intern at a software company, the first two weeks can be overwhelming and exciting at the same time. Here are my reflections on the first two weeks of my internship at atWare Vietnam.
The first week of my internship was focused on orientation and onboarding. It was an exciting and new experience for me, and I was looking forward to learning more about the company and my role as an intern. I arrived at the company's office on my first day with a little bit of apprehension, but as soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the friendly faces of the mentor and especially, the CEO of atWare Vietnam, Gene san, who made me feel welcomed.
After a quick office tour, I was taken to the meeting room, where I was introduced to the company's culture, values, and history. I was pleasantly surprised to hear about the company's values and how they prioritize employee well-being and satisfaction. The company has totally 11 core values but I spend most of my heart for One for All and All for One value. With me, this value shows that the result of the team is only responsible for the team, while we work as individuals. Each individual should not just focus on the performance of them but also need to take care a lot to general purpose by raising problems or helping others to gain the final team’s expectation. It was clear that the company values its employees and wants to create a positive work environment for everyone. During my orientation, I was given a brief overview of the company's business, its mission, and our main partners. Additionally, I had a chance to learn about the various tools, services and technologies that the company uses, and I was trained on how to use them for the first week.
The whole process of orientation and onboarding was very smooth, and all team members made sure that I felt welcome and part of the team from day one. I was impressed by how organized and efficient the company was in getting me up to speed with everything. Besides it, the teamwork with all new interns also makes me feel happy a lot. We try to work like a team, by focusing on the goals, we split work to each individual, and then share the knowledge to each other at the end of the day. All my colleagues also help us a lot with their experience and knowledge, by reviewing our work and giving valuable feedback. With me, it is the first time I can feel the actual power of teamwork and want to send my appreciation to two other interns and all my colleagues because they help me a lot while working. By the end of the week, I felt comfortable and confident in my understanding of the company, my role as an intern, and new knowledge of a lot of new technologies.
For the second week of my internship, for the first few days,to prepare to join a real project with a customer, I was informed of our customer, including the business, its purpose and expected delivery, the structure and the way the project was activated. I was excited to start joining the first real project. It was a big project and it will deliver to the customer, so it allowed me to get experience in reality. For the first day, I was introduced to the project with a quick meeting with some Japanese teammates and customers. They are so friendly that I felt comfortable when becoming a member of the project. Because our company is from Japan and most of our customers come from Japan, the company also offers interns a course for Japanese so it can help us in communication. To finish the second week as an intern, the company celebrated a party to welcome all new interns. Through this activity, I can broaden my knowledge about the company culture, and improve the relationship with all of my colleagues. A lot of happy things came to me during my two weeks here.
In conclusion, my first two weeks as a software intern at atWare Vietnam have been an incredible learning experience. I have had the opportunity to learn about the company, its culture, and its products, as well as work on a real-world project. The supportive and welcoming environment at the company has also played a big role in making my experience so positive. I am excited to see what the rest of my internship has in store for me and look forward to continuing to learn and grow with the company.
